Command Sergeant Major Jasper Johnson


CSM Johnson is a native of Tifton, Georgia and he enlisted in the Army on 1 August 1990.  He attended One Station Unit Training for basic and advanced individual training at Fort Benning, Georgia.  CSM Johnson has served in every leadership position from Team Leader to Command Sergeant Major. He has also served as a Basic Airborne Training Instructor,   Battalion Operations Sergeant, Chief Instructor (U.S. Army Airborne School), Transition Team Senior Enlisted Advisor, and Operations Sergeant Major.

His assignments includes the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (TOG), 2-29th Infantry Regiment;1-14th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light); 3-504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division; 1-507th Parachute Infantry Regiment (U.S. Army Airborne School); 1-506th Infantry Regiment (Air Assault), 2nd Infantry Division; 3rd Federal Police Transition Team (Mosul, Iraq); 1-50th Infantry Regiment, 198th Infantry Training Brigade; 4-319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, and 1-37th Armorer Regiment, 1st Armor Division.  He has deployed to Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian, to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

His military and civilian education consists of the Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Battle Staff NCO Course, First Sergeant Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Course, Air Assault Course, Basic Airborne Course, Master Fitness Course, Strategic Deployment Air Load Planners Course, Jumpmaster Course, Pathfinder Course, Instructor Training Course, Army Equal Opportunity Management Course, Supervisor Development Course, Manager Development Course, Basic and Advanced Transition Team Course, and Master Resilience Trainer Course. He also holds a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Business & Management of Excelsior College, Albany New York. 

CSM Johnson’s awards and decorations includes the Bronze Star Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (6 Oak Leaf Clusters), Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal (Bronze Service Star), Korean Defense Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal (2 Bronze Service Stars), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (Campaign Star), Iraqi Campaign Medal (Campaign Star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCOPD Ribbon (Numeral 4), Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4), NATO Medal (Bronze Service Star), Navy Unit Commendation, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, Canadian Parachutist Badge and German Parachutist Badge. He has been inducted into the Order of Saint Maurice, the Order of Saint Barbara, and the Order of Saint George.
