The 3d United States Infantry Regiment's Caisson Horse Adoption Program was approved by the Secretary of the Army as an alternative to disposition of the horses through the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office, and to ensure that the horses were placed in good homes and well cared for after retirement from Military Service.
