Clinch

Clinch

Clinch is a 15-year-old Thoroughbred with a lip tattoo. He is a dark bay standing at ~16.3HH. He has faithfully served as a training horse for new soldiers in our Basic Horsemanship Course for 11 years. Clinch has been worked extensively in western tack with natural horsemanship groundwork and has done basic walk, trot, canter in a riding arena and on trail rides. He likes treats and is friendly with visitors to the facility. Clinch is UTD on his annual shots, deworming, farriery, and dental work.

Clinch is looking for an experienced new owner. He needs an experienced rider because he has grown hesitant of handling while tied. While he is better in crossties, Clinch needs a new owner who understands and can recognize equine body language because he will kick at handlers trying to pick his feet or brush his hindquarters if they do not acknowledge his behaviors. Clinch is being treated for deep muscle pain in his hindquarters with physical and shockwave therapy. His pain is believed to be related to a previous injury, but the direct cause is unknown. He will need continued sports medicine support at his future home.

Ringo

Ringo

Ringo is a 24-year-old Percheron cross who has served Caisson loyally for 20 years. He has completed countless missions in all seasons. He is calm but stubborn and needs a patient human with time to work with him. Ringo lives with neck and back pain so he will need to be retired as a pasture companion to other horses. Ringo is UTD on vaccinations, deworming, farrier care, and dental care. Ringo enjoys fresh carrots, apples, and mints. Ringo is on Attequan injections and Equioxx (57mg daily).

Patton

Patton

Patton is a 24-year-old Percheron who has served Caisson loyally for 20 years. He has completed countless missions including Colin Powell’s funeral procession. Patton is UTD on vaccinations, deworming, farrier care, and dental care. He is on Attequan injections, 1.5 mg daily of Pergolide and Equioxx (57mg daily). He has mild to moderate lameness in both hind legs. Patton can handle light riding with his medication management because it would help him manage his arthritis. He would enjoy the attention of a young child who might want to ride around a pasture or along a trail. Patton enjoys belly scratches and licorice. He loves honey buns from visitors even though he’s not supposed to have them!. Therefore, his ideal home would have an owner who understands equine Cushings and has a dry lot to help him stay off seasonally rich pastures.

Randy

Randy

Randy is a 21-year-old, 16.2 HH Percheron Cross who has served Caisson faithfully for 11 years in the swing and lead positions. Randy will be able to handle light riding for short distances. Notably, even though Randy is an old man, he can spook at novel objects; he needs a calm and collected owner to remind him he is safe. Randy likes treats like donut holes and mints, but is not supposed to get many due to his Cushing’s diagnosis. Therefore, his ideal home would have an owner who understands his management needs related to seasonally rich pastures.

Randy is UTD on vaccinations, deworming, farrier care, and dental care. Randy experienced a right hind extensor rupture in 2022. His daily care consists of hand walking and wrapping with poultice to address localized swelling. He also receives shockwave therapy. Randy receives one Pergolide daily, Equioxx (57 mg daily) and monthly Attequan injections.
